The ADU’s Electrical Starts with the Main House
An ADU is a small home: kitchen, bathroom, heating and cooling, laundry and often an EV charger. All of that power has to come from somewhere, and in many LA homes the main service is already near its limit.
Three common setups. A sub-panel fed from the main house, a service upgrade to carry both buildings, or a separate meter for the ADU. The right choice depends on your service size, the ADU’s loads and whether you plan to rent it.
Detached buildings need a proper feeder. Power to a backyard ADU or garage is usually run underground at the depth code requires. We plan the route and handle the permit.
