Why it matters
A Fan Isn’t Just a Heavy Light Fixture
Ceiling fans are heavy and they move. They need a fan-rated electrical box that’s secured to the framing. Hanging a fan from a standard light fixture box is one of the most common causes of wobbly, noisy and falling fans.
Older homes need a little more work. Plaster ceilings, old boxes and single-switch wiring are common in Northeast LA. We can add a brace through a small opening, and add a second switch or a remote so the fan and light work separately.
Outdoor fans need wet or damp ratings and GFCI protection. We’ll make sure a patio fan is rated for where it’s going.
