Which Setup Do You Need?

The right generator setup depends on what you want to keep running and how often you lose power. These are the setups we install.

How it works

How a Generator Install Works

01

Load Calculation

We work out what you want to power during an outage and size the generator and transfer equipment to match.

02

Options with Prices

Portable inlet and interlock, transfer switch, or standby generator, each priced before any work starts.

03

Permit and Install

We pull the permit, install the inlet, interlock or transfer switch, and wire the generator to your panel.

04

Test and Walkthrough

We test the switchover and show you exactly how to use it safely.

Why it matters

Never Backfeed Your Panel

Plugging a generator into a dryer outlet or running it straight into the panel, called backfeeding, can send power back onto utility lines and electrocute line workers. It can also destroy the generator and wiring when power comes back.

A transfer switch or interlock prevents that. It makes sure your home is disconnected from the grid before the generator connects. It’s the only safe way to power your house from a generator.

Portable or standby? A portable generator with an inlet and interlock is the most affordable way to keep essentials running. A standby generator starts automatically and can run the whole house. Standby units that run on natural gas also need a gas connection by a licensed plumber.

Foothill homes lose power more often. Parts of the San Gabriel Valley near the foothills, including Arcadia and Monrovia, can be affected by Southern California Edison’s Public Safety Power Shutoffs during high fire-risk weather.
