Outdoors, Water and Wiring Don’t Mix
Outdoor electrical work has to handle sprinklers, rain and sun. That means fixtures rated for wet locations, weather-resistant outlets with in-use covers, wiring that’s buried or protected in conduit, and GFCI protection so a fault shuts off before it can hurt someone.
Low-voltage vs. line-voltage. Most landscape and path lighting runs on low-voltage systems powered by a transformer, which is safer to run through planting beds. Security and porch lights usually run on standard 120V circuits.
Controls matter. Photocells, timers and smart switches make sure lights are on when you need them and off when you don’t.
