Sub-Panels for ADUs, Garages, Workshops and Additions

When your main panel is out of room, or the new space is far from it, a sub-panel puts breakers where you need them. We size it with a load calculation and handle the permit.

Is a Sub-Panel the Right Fix?

A sub-panel adds breaker space and puts circuits closer to where they’re used. These are the jobs where it usually makes sense.

How it works

How a Sub-Panel Install Works

01

Load Calculation

We check what your service can supply and what the new space will draw, so the sub-panel and feeder are sized right.

02

Options with Prices

A sub-panel, a panel upgrade, or both if your service is too small. Each option priced before any work starts.

03

Permit and Install

We pull the permit, run the feeder from the main panel, and install and wire the sub-panel.

04

Inspection and Walkthrough

After inspection, we label every circuit and show you how the new panel works.

Why it matters

More Breaker Space Isn’t More Power

A sub-panel adds room for circuits, but it doesn’t add capacity. Everything still comes through your main service. If your home runs on 100 amps and you’re adding an ADU with its own kitchen, AC and laundry, a sub-panel alone may not be enough.

That’s why we start with a load calculation. It tells us whether a sub-panel is the answer, or whether your service also needs an upgrade.

ADUs are the most common reason. Across Los Angeles, ADUs need their own circuits and often their own panel. Some are fed from the main house, some get a separate meter. We’ll walk you through what your city and utility require.
