Why Zinsco Panels Are Replaced
Zinsco panels, also sold under the Sylvania name, were installed in many Southern California homes from the 1950s through the 1970s. Their breakers are known for problems where they connect to the panel’s bus bars.
Connections can overheat. Over time, the breaker connection can loosen and arc, and in some cases a breaker can fuse to the bus bar and fail to trip when it should.
Parts are hard to find. Zinsco breakers are no longer made, so repairs often use hard-to-find or secondhand parts.
Replacement is the reliable fix. We install a modern panel sized for EV chargers, heat pumps and ADUs, and handle the permit, utility coordination and inspection.
